Argentine’s mown down in Rio

11 Mar

Reports are emerging in Argentina’s media about injuries sustained by Argentine protestors attempting to voice their anger at the visit to Brazil of Prince Harry.

A small group of protestors, carrying placards proclaiming that ‘The Falklands are Argentine’, planned to intercept the Prince on his circuit around Rio de Janeiro and vent their anger at Britain’s 247 year occupation of what they believe are ‘Argentina’s’ islands in the South Atlantic. Seeing the Prince’s visit as a British plan to promote division within South America, the protestors believed that they could make their point surrounded by their Brazilian brothers and sisters. “We are united”, said someone calling herself Cristina.

Rumour has it that, having found a prominent position within easy access of the Prince, the would-be demonstrators were run down by a mob of young women all screaming; ” I lova you, marry me”.

Brazil plans to hold no inquiry at all. A police spokesman suggested that the protestors had suffered self-inflicted injuries.
