A series of events to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne are being announced, including the arrival of a representative of the Royal Family in every Commonwealth Country, Crown Dependency and British Overseas Territory.
The Diamond Jubilee coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War in 1982 and Argentina has already expressed its concerns about another member of the Royal Family being on the Islands in the early part of the year. Prince William is due there in March to complete a segment of his training as a Search and Rescue pilot.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel across the United Kingdom to mark the event and an official ‘Jubilee Weekend’ has been announced for the 2nd – 5th June.
Next year also sees the 30th anniversary of Argentina’s invasion on April 2nd, and of Britain’s victory on June 14th.
