Oil Rig Support

4 Nov

Offshore supply vessels, Toisa Sonata and Toisa Intrepid have been fixed on four-well charters to assist the semi-submersible oil rig, Leiv Eiriksson,  during its time in the Falkland Islands.

This rig is currently equipped for drilling operations in water depths down to 7 500 feet, but can be upgraded to 10 000 feet – the same depth capability as its sister vessel Eirik Raude. Leiv Eiriksson has operated successfully in water depths exceeding 7 000 feet off Angola.

The rig remains stable in harsh weather owing to its superior motion characteristics and advanced dynamic positioning systems.

The support vessels, currently undergoing upgrades, will depart the North Sea before the end of November and are contracted until mid-2012.
